There are four types of potential members who
are in our target audience:
- University/College Students -
Traditional/Non-Traditional*
- PM Faculty Mentors**
- New to the PM Profession***
- Seasoned PM Professionals****
HOWEVER,
this listing isn't an attempt to "preclude" anybody since our catch
phrase is, "Aren't We All Students of Project Management?" which pretty
much means everybody!. In
other words, aren't we always learning new processes and concepts to add
to our Project Manager toolkit? Our "Best Practices" that we can
use and reuse to benefit our project stakeholders?
That's what this SIG is all
about, the networking through our List Server AND our Members Only area
bring people together from around the world to discuss PM "Best
Practices"!

* "Traditional" means those
who are in school full time and that is their major "work" assignment.
Whereas "Non-Traditional" means those who are holding down a full-time
job, may have a family to support AND are pursuing a degree in higher
education. These are usually but not always Graduate Students.
** Having PM faculty work with us
to create a relationship between their PM students and the SIG is a "Win
Win" collaboration for both groups. Of course the SIG benefits
from the additional membership numbers whereas the students make "First
Contact" in the profession. The PM Faculty member receives service
credit at the institution where they work. Also, having contact
with a PM faculty member adds consistency where volatile student
turnover impacts on membership communications and numbers
*** This could mean a person who
all of sudden is handed the job of Project Manager at their workplace.
Or those who have entered the work force looking specifically for PM
work.
**** These are people who have an
interest in passing on their expertise in the field to those who are new
to the profession. They're taking an interest in mentoring the
next generation of Project Managers. |
